Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is mourning the loss of his father, Khanchand Singh, who passed away early Friday morning after battling a prolonged illness. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Greater Noida and had been suffering from advanced-stage liver cancer.

Rinku Singh’s Father Dies After Battle With Liver Cancer

According to hospital officials, Khanchand Singh’s health had deteriorated significantly in recent days. He was admitted to Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida on February 21 after his condition became critical.

Dr. Sunil Kumar, spokesperson for the hospital, confirmed that he had been placed on ventilator support due to severe complications caused by liver cancer. Despite continuous medical care, he breathed his last early on February 27, 2026.

Rinku Singh Returned Home During T20 World Cup

Due to his father’s critical health condition, Rinku Singh had briefly left the ongoing T20 World Cup to be with his family. After spending time with his father in Noida, the Indian cricketer later rejoined the national squad ahead of India’s match against Zimbabwe on February 26.

Family sources revealed that Rinku remained in constant touch with doctors and relatives during this difficult period.

Former Coach Reveals Emotional Details

Rinku Singh’s former coach, Masood Amini, shared that Khanchand Singh had been battling terminal-stage liver cancer for quite some time.

“He had been unwell for months. For the last three to four days, he was on ventilator support. The family was going through an extremely tough phase,” Amini said while speaking to media in Aligarh.

Khanchand Singh played a crucial role in shaping Rinku Singh’s cricketing journey. Working as a gas cylinder delivery worker in Aligarh, he worked tirelessly to support his family despite financial struggles.

Last Rites to Be Held in Aligarh

Family members confirmed that the final rites of Khanchand Singh will be performed in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Rinku Singh is expected to attend the funeral along with close relatives and well-wishers.
